Tom Blomqvist joins Ford Racing Hypercar driver line-up

Ford Racing has announced the final three factory drivers - endurance standout Matt Campbell, Le Mans class winner Nick Yelloly and IMSA champion Tom Blomqvist -completing its six-driver roster for the highly anticipated 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar program.

The star-studded trio joins the previously announced line-up of Logan Sargeant, Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx. Together, these six drivers bring an elite combination of championship-winning experience, prototype expertise and raw speed to Ford’s return to the pinnacle of global sportscar racing.

Each of the newly-announced drivers brings a formidable pedigree to the program:

The Hypercar program is the flagship project of the newly-unified Ford Racing organization. By bringing its global motorsports operations under the Ford Racing banner, the company has integrated engineering, marketing and production performance into a single unit to accelerate technology transfer between the track and the road.

The Ford Hypercar features a chassis developed in partnership with ORECA and is powered by a 5.4-liter naturally aspirated "Coyote" V8 engine, designed and built in-house in Dearborn. This powerplant serves as a direct link to Ford’s production performance vehicles, including the Mustang GT3 and GT4.

Mark Rushbrook, Global Director, Ford Racing: “At Ford Racing, competition runs through our veins, and as America’s Race Team, it is only right that we carry the banner ourselves. With the additions of Matt, Nick and Tom alongside Logan, Rocky and Seb, we have finalized a driver lineup capable of winning races. We aren’t just returning to Le Mans to participate - we are returning to fight for overall victory, and this complete roster gives us the perfect foundation to achieve that goal.”

Dan Sayers, Ford Racing WEC Hypercar Program Manager: “The development phase with our 5.4L V8 is already showing great promise on the dyno in Dearborn, where we’ve been pushing the limits of its performance and durability. Having Matt, Nick and Tom onboard early is a massive boost. Their combined feedback in the simulator and during our upcoming testing phases across Europe will be vital as we transition from the virtual world to the track. They all have a proven track record of extracting performance from brand-new platforms and providing the precise technical feedback needed to refine our in-house developed control systems.”

Matt Campbell, Ford Racing Hypercar driver: “I’m extremely excited and proud to be joining Ford Racing for their new Hypercar program. Ford has a longstanding history of success in top levels of motorsport and at Le Mans, which is something I am also chasing, and I believe Ford is the right place to achieve that goal together. We have a lot of laps to turn later this year, but the work has already started and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”

Nick Yelloly, Ford Racing Hypercar driver: “I am super excited to be joining Ford Racing for its Hypercar program. Being part of the lineup who are bringing back the legendary Blue Oval to Le Mans is a big honor and I am very grateful for the opportunity. I’m itching to get going with the whole team and can’t wait to get this show on the road!"

Tom Blomqvist, Ford Racing Hypercar driver: “Joining Ford Racing at the start of such an ambitious programme is an incredibly exciting opportunity. To be part of the project from the outset, help shape its development and work towards the shared goal of bringing Ford back to the top step of the podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans is very special. Ford’s heritage in endurance racing speaks for itself, and I’m proud to represent the brand as we begin this exciting new chapter together.”

Ford Racing confirmed the program’s comprehensive track-testing schedule is set to begin this August at various circuits across Europe. This phase will focus on performance, reliability, hybrid system integration and aerodynamic validation in conditions that simulate the rigors of the FIA WEC and its flagship race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Additional details regarding the final driver pairings and the car’s official name will be revealed at a later date.
