Tom Blomqvist heads to Indianapolis

Tom Blomqvist and his Meyer Shank Racing team head to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as he looks to continue the strong form from the previous three rounds of the championship as the season reaches its final two races.

Tom Blomqvist and teammate, Colin Braun, return to the wheel of the #60 Acura ARX-06 for the eighth event of the season in the GTP class at the iconic motorsport venue.

This will be the first race at Indianapolis for Blomqvist and the Tirerack.com Battle on the Bricks will take on added significance for the British driver since he will be racing full-time for MSR’s INDYCAR program starting in 2024.

After early season challenges, Tom and the MSR team have rallied with three consecutive podiums for the #60 Acura ARX-06 in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition. A return to the IMSA podium with a third place in the Six Hours of Watkins Glen and a second in the most recent event at Road America accompany a thrilling victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Heading into the weekend, Tom currently occupies 5th in the drivers' standings on 2053 points with two rounds of the season left to contest.

The weekend's action will be kickstarted with two free practice sessions at 16:40 on Friday afternoon and 08:55 on Saturday morning, before Saturday afternoon sees the all-important qualifying session at 13:00 which sets the grid for Sunday's race which gets underway at 13:10.

“We’re coming into the home stretch and my goal is to try and get another championship with MSR. Until it’s mathematically out of the equation we have to aim for that, and right now we’re inching back into it. We have nothing to lose in the position that we’re in right now, so the goal is simply to win.”
