No. 60 Acura MSR Endures Setback to Finish 10th at Sebring

After running at the sharp end for most of the race, Tom Blomqvist and the Acura Meyer Shank Racing’s No. 60 Acura ARX-06 saw its podium hopes fade late in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, ultimately finishing 10th after an incident on pit lane.

Tom Blomqvist, Colin Braun, and Scott Dixon shared driving duties in the No. 60 entry, which qualified second and remained a consistent front-runner throughout the opening nine hours of the gruelling endurance race. Braun led 10 consecutive laps during a key mid-race stint as the team remained firmly in contention.

However, following an extended four-hour, 11-minute green flag run, Blomqvist pitted while running fifth. During the stop, contact with another competitor as he exited pit lane forced the No. 60 to a stop at the end of pit road. The team made quick repairs, but the incident cost them five laps — a deficit they couldn’t recover from in the caution-free final stages.

Despite the setback, the No. 60 showed strong pace again following its close second-place finish at the Rolex 24 At Daytona. The team will now shift focus to the streets of Long Beach for the 100-minute sprint race on April 12.

Tom Blomqvist: “I’ve never had a good result here and unfortunately this year was the same. The race was kind of all over the place for us, we were at the back and then at the front. And then we had issues getting out of pit lane and one car wasn’t properly in the fast lane and I had to maneuver around another car and it was just too tight and I broke the front left [suspension]. I’m obviously very disappointed for the guys and I think we could have had both cars fighting for third and fourth.”
