TOM'S RACE REVIEW
“I’m delighted with our performance today. The crash yesterday meant the team had to rebuild the car overnight to be ready for today and we weren't sure where we'd be jumping straight in to qualifying. To come back from that, it’s the best possible way to repay the team for all their hard work, I'm really grateful and want to say a huge thank you and congratulations to them all.
“It was a steady start to the race with the full-course yellows but I felt really confident with the car and was able to start making my way through the pack pretty quickly. We used the yellows to our advantage as much as we could with the pit stops and that really worked for us.
“I felt like I maximised as much as I could from my stint. I went as long as I was possibly allowed to at 23 laps and managed the fuel and tyres really well. That meant we had plenty of options for the strategy and ultimately helped put us in the perfect position to capitalise on any incidents.
"Sean did a great job from there for the remainder of the race, he kept everything under control for nearly three-and-a-half hours and didn't put a foot wrong. He was quick and consistent which meant we could stay at the front and just keep extending the gap so a massive well done to him - he deserves a good rest tonight!
“We knew we had a good race car to work with so I can’t wait to come back tomorrow with the aim of doing the same again.”
The second race of the weekend takes place tomorrow, Saturday February 20th, from 16:10 local time (12:10 GMT) to 20:10 (16:10) and can be viewed here.
