Tom Blomqvist Returns To WEC For 6 Hours Of Spa

Tom Blomqvist heads to Belgium this weekend to resume his FIA World Endurance Championship campaign. Back behind the wheel of the United Autosports #23 Oreca - 07, Tom will contest the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

Tom will be joined by full-time teammates Josh Pierson and Olly Jarvis, with the team looking to continue their momentum after a strong start to a season. They began the season in Sebring, where they were battling for position at the front of the field before an electrical failure halted their progress, before going on to claim victory in round two in Portimão in Tom's absence.

With Tom returning this weekend, the team are optimistic that they can record consecutive victories as they head into this race full of confidence.

The infamous Spa-Francorchamps circuit, which features some iconic corners such as the thrilling Eau Rouge before the drivers climb the hill through Raidillon, will see the cars pushed to the limit and no doubt keep race fans on the edge of their seat.

It is a familiar circuit for Tom, who has fond memories having won the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps with BMW in GT3 in 2018, as well finishing on the podium in 2021 in the LMP2 class with Jota Sport.

The action begins on Thursday with two 90 minute free practice sessions. A third and final practice will take place on Friday morning, followed by a qualifying session later that afternoon. The race itself is scheduled to start at 12:45 (CEST) on Saturday.

“I can’t wait to get back out there with the team. We had a strong start to the race in Sebring and then the team won last time out in Portimão so the expectation is for us to be in the mix again. We have worked incredibly hard behind the scenes and we know the car has the pace to challenge for the win again. Spa is one of my favourite circuits and I have fond memories from racing here in the past. Hopefully I can add to that this weekend.”
