Tom Blomqvist looking to keep podium momentum going at CTMP

Tom Blomqvist and his Meyer Shank Racing team will be looking to build on their podium-finishing form from the previous round at Watkins Glen when it returns to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) for the Chevrolet Grand Prix for round six of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

2022 IMSA Champion, Tom Blomqvist, will once again team up with regular Meyer Shank Racing teammate Colin Braun to pilot the #60 Acura ARX-06 in the GTP class for round six of the 2023 campaign.

A year ago, Tom scored his fifth-consecutive runner-up finish for MSR at the circuit which gave Tom and the team the lead in the DPi standings, which they held for the remainder of the championship. Last year's event was one to remember for Tom as he started on the pole, after shattering the lap record in qualifying, and dominated the majority of the race.

Heading into the weekend, Tom finds himself in 8th position in the IMSA Driver Standings with a total of 1323 points with four races still left to contest.

Practice for the CTMP weekend begins with a 90-minute session on Friday at 2:50 p.m. (all times ET). Final practice is Saturday at 8 a.m., followed by GTP qualifying at 1:35 p.m. The race starts at 12:05 p.m. on Sunday.

“After inheriting a podium at Watkins Glen, it’s nice to score some half decent points after a bit of a tough run. We were slightly disappointed with the end result, I thought we had a chance at doing better. Last year for us at Mosport was decent, we finished second. This year with the new cars its going to be exciting. It’s a crazy fast track, very challenging as a driver. I’m excited, I’m ready and hopefully we can keep chipping away at it and improve the car a little bit from the last weekend. I think we have a chance at a good result there. The goal is to be on the podium, hopefully the top step, but we have to work hard towards that and improve on our weaknesses.”
