IMSA season finale awaits Tom Blomqvist

MOTUL PETIT LE MANS
IMSA ROUND NINE | MICHELIN RACEWAY ROAD ATLANTA | 12-14 OCTOBER 2023

Tom Blomqvist and his Meyer Shank Racing team return to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for the Motul Petit Le Mans in his final appearance with the team in the IMSA championship as he looks to repeat his success from 2022 with back to back victories and end his season on a high.

Tom Blomqvist, the 2022 and 2023 Daytona 24 Hour race winner and 2022 IMSA champion has enjoyed two brilliant years in the championship with the team at MSR, securing four victories, eleven podiums, five pole positions and five fastest laps in the process.

Tom and teammate, Colin Braun, will be joined behind the wheel of the No. 60 MSR Acura ARX-06 by the returning Helio Castroneves for the finale of the IMSA season at the iconic venue.

Tom and the team at MSR heads into the season finale with two season wins to their name and enters the weekend sixth in the standings, 127 points from the lead and with a mathematical chance of winning the championship title.

Last season at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta saw an epic battle unfold for championship honours, with Tom and the team clinching the IMSA title after a perfectly executed strategy saw them jump into the lead of the race in the closing stages to take the chequered flag and the spoils of victory.

The weekend's action will be kickstarted on Thursday with three free practice sessions at 09:50, 14:35 and 19:30 respectively before Friday afternoon sees the all-important qualifying session at 15:20 which sets the grid for Saturday's 10 hour race which gets underway at 11:40.

"Final race of the season and it feels like it's come around so fast. This race is probably my second favorite race of the year, behind Daytona. I love this event, the fans, the track, driving into the night - it's such a cool race. Last year we won the thing and the goal is to be back-to-back winners. We had a solid test there a few weeks back. I think it's going to be super close, it seemed like the competition was tightly matched. But I am really, really motivated and everyone on the team is hoping to end the season on a high note and go for back-to-back wins at Petit Le Mans."
