Tom Blomqvist moves onto Lausitzring this weekend

Just a fortnight after the season-opener at Hockenheim, Tom Blomqvist will travel to the Lausitzring for races three and four of the 2017 DTM season.

A testing weekend in Hockenheim two weeks ago, saw Tom suffer damage in both races in unavoidable collisions. This means that the 23-year-old heads to the Motorsport Festival Lausitzring hoping to secure his first points of the year.

In Tom’s four DTM races fo far at the circuit. He has yet to register a point-scoring finish – a record he’ll be looking to set straight this weekend when he travels to the 3.48-kilometre track.

With six different drivers from three different manufacturers appearing on the podium at Hockenheim, everything is up for grabs heading into the second race weekend of the season.

Bart Mampaey, Team Principal of BMW Team RBM, is confident the team can bounce back from their poor luck at Hockenheim.

“We had a steep learning curve over the course of the Hockenheim weekend – and of course we want to transfer this into some good results at the Lausitzring. Our drivers were definitely competitive, but they suffered a dose of bad luck during incidents in the races. I hope that this weekend will be better and that we will be able to bring home some good points.”

Tom is also looking for a switch recovery from a tough weekend at Hockenheim and change his form at the Lausitzring.

“I had tough races at the Lausitzring in 2016, so hopefully things will be better this year. Last year the Motorsport Festival was quite a good event with the shared weekend with the ADAC GT Masters, so hopefully a lot of fans will return. They can definitely look forward to their visit.”

Track action in the DTM gets underway on Friday, with the ADAC GT Masters providing a packed racing programme at the Motorsport Festival Lausitzring this weekend.
