IMSA takes Blomqvist to Virginia

Tom Blomqvist will travel to Virginia this weekend (24-25 August) for the next round of the 2019 IMSA WeatherTeach SportsCar Championship at the Virginia International Raceway.

After a three-week break from racing, Tom will return to America to contest in the Michelin GT Challenge at Vir along with his BMW Team RLL team-mate Connor De Phillippi.

The two-hour and 40-minute race will see Tom and his #25 machinery tackle a 3.27-mile circuit layout at the Virginia International Raceway - a track where his BMW team celebrated their maiden win with the BMW M8 GTE.

Going into this weekend, Tom is still looking to score his first IMSA podium despite the Integro-sponsored driver narrowly missing out on the rostrum on a couple of occasions. With only three rounds remaining - including this one - Tom is determined to end his 2019 season on a high and put the disappointment of the previous round behind him.

“Virginia is another race track well suited to our car,” Tom said ahead of the weekend. “I think we will be strong there. I like the layout of the track; it looks fun, we just need to eliminate all the little errors that have been compounding over the previous events and have a clean weekend. We’ll be looking to put the disappointment of the last round behind us that’s for sure.”

Tom’s 15-minute qualifying session will take place on Saturday 24th August at 17:50 (BST). Sunday’s race will commence at 18:35 and run until 21:15.
