Blomqvist gears up for Six Hours of Watkins Glen

Tom Blomqvist heads back Stateside this weekend for his fourth race in the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen will be Tom’s first race in America since the Mid-Ohio round at the beginning of May, where he claimed an impressive fourth-place finish.

Since, Tom has spent time in Europe contesting in the Nürburgring 24 Hours where after a strong qualification race which ended with a podium, the British driver experienced frustration in the main race as the team was forced to retire after only four hours into the two-round-the-clock race.

With a history dating back to the late 1960s, the annual six-hour battle on the 3.4-mile Watkins Glen International circuit is one of America’s most famous races and one of the showpiece events on the IMSA calendar.

Now back in America for this weekend, Tom will once again be partnered by Connor De Phillippi as they aim for success in the Team RLLR #25 BMW M8 GTE.

“It’s great to be back in the States for the next round of IMSA,” Tom said ahead of the race weekend. “The season has been positive so far, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve here.

“In the last race at Mid Ohio we narrowly missed out on the podium, so hopefully this weekend the luck can be more in our favour and we can make it onto the podium - something which all the team deserve for all their hard work so far this season.”

The race weekend will commence with two practice sessions on Friday 28th before the final practice outing on Saturday morning. Qualifying will then take place later that day at 17:25 (BST). The Six Hours of Watkins Glen will get the green flag at 14:45 on Sunday.
